Veena Malik sues FHM over morphed pic

Pakistani actor Veena Malik has filed a defamation suit against an Indian magazine for a "morphed" cover photo of her posing nude with the initials of Pakistan's intelligence agency on her arm.

Malik's spokesman, Sohail Rasheed, said on Monday that the actor was seeking 100 million rupees ($2 million) in damages from FHM India, whose editor insists the cover shoot was genuine and consensual.

"The picture has been morphed," Rasheed said in Islamabad, adding that the magazine had targeted Malik's "credibility and character."

FHM India editor Kabeer Sharma told AFP at the weekend that he was mystified by Malik's allegations. "Maybe she is facing some kind of backlash, so maybe that's why she is denying it. We have not photoshopped or faked the cover. This is what she looks like, she has an amazing body," Sharma said.

In his Twitter feed on Monday, Sharma said he would release a series of photos from the shoot proving his version of the story.

While Malik's pose on the cover preserves a scant degree of modesty, any nudity is still very much frowned upon in conservative India -- and indeed in Muslim-majority Pakistan.

What has raised more eyebrows was her arm sporting the initials ISI -- the acronym for Inter-Services Intelligence, Pakistan's spy agency.

Nuclear-armed India and Pakistan have gone to war three times and the ISI has been routinely accused by New Delhi of masterminding militant attacks on Indian soil.

Sharma said the idea had been to take an ironic swipe at India's obsession with the ISI.

A tag line on the cover that points to the initials, reads: "Hand in the end of the world too?"

"People, especially young people in both countries, want to move past this kind of thinking," the editor said.

"It's a very powerful picture -- it took a lot of guts for her to do that. It shows a powerful, sexy woman not afraid to speak her mind."

Malik is already well known in India for appearing on Bigg Boss, the country's version of the television reality show Big Brother.

She incurred the wrath of hardline Islamic clerics in Pakistan for her performance on the show, during which she indulged in several intimate scenes with Indian actor Ashmit Patel that included massaging his head and neck.

A furor has erupted in south Asia involving a men’s magazine, a seemingly nude Pakistani actress and a tattoo of the initials of Pakistan’s spy agency on her arm.

The uproar follows the release of FHM India’s December issue, which features screen star Veena Malik appearing to pose naked on its cover. If that’s not shocking enough for traditional Indians and Pakistanis, images inside show her holding what looks like a grenade and bearing the tattooed letters “ISI” — the acronym for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

But the actress claims the images were doctored and her agreement with the magazine was thus violated. Somewhat bizarrely, considering the picture sprawled across the cover, Malik insisted she never even posed naked for the magazine.

“If I had posed nude for the magazine, I would be the first to admit it,” CNN reports she said. “But I didn’t agree to this and they are wrong. I did not go for this, and I am deeply shocked and depressed about what has happened.”

Malik’s lawyer, Ayaz Bilawala, told the BBC that his client will sue FHM India and has asked it to withdraw all copies from newsstands. He has sent a legal notice to the magazine seeking $1.9 million in damages. Bilawala explained that the agreement required Malik would be shown all the photographs from the shoot prior to public display. He didn’t dispute the ISI tattoo, but pointed out numerous organizations worldwide used the same acronym.

FHM India has reportedly dismissed her objections as “completely and entirely false” and said it has video evidence to show the shoot’s authenticity. The magazine’s editor told the BBC that writing “ISI” on Malik’s arm was his idea, but she was the one to propose writing it in block letters. The intention was lighthearted, editor Kabeer Sharma noted. “In India we joke about this,” he said. “If anything goes wrong… we say the ISI must be behind this.”

Maybe not so coincidentally, Malik – who stoked controversy for her “un-Islamic” behavior in India’s version of Big Brother last year – has a new reality TV show launching soon. Perhaps there’s just no such thing as bad publicity for all parties concerned.

Katrina can't escape skin show in Dhoom 3

The bikini boogey has not really been exorcised out of Katrina Kaif's presence in Dhoom 3.

Though she has convinced producer Aditya Chopra that the bikini is not essential for the scene where she was supposed to flaunt one, the issue is far from resolved.

Apparently the core team of Dhoom 3 continued to persuade the actress to take forward the tradition of bikini-clad leading ladies in the flick.

A source said, "Though Katrina signed on the dotted line for Dhoom 3 only on condition that the bikini sequence be removed, they reluctantly removed the bikini. But the question of what she wears in lieu of the skimpy apparel has only now been resolved."

For the sequence, Katrina would now be wearing shorts and a suitable top.

The source added, "Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya were not willing to do away with the sequence where Katrina was to be seen in beach wear. The sequence was to be shot on an exotic beach. After she said no to wearing a two-piece, there was talk of doing away with that sequence altogether. But it is felt by the entire team that the beach location is lucky for the series. Since Katrina is required for that sequence, her clothes have been suitable modified to go by her aesthetic comfort and the requirement of the sequence."

Interestingly, her role requires her to be more lean and athletic than the present.

A source from Istanbul, where she is shooting for Ek Tha Tiger said, "Katrina has a round-the-clock trainer with her in Istanbul who is currently training her in the rudiments of the physical-type required. She gets into advanced training on her return."

Apparently Katrina's character in Dhoom 3 would be "a mixture of Catwoman and Lara Croft, with a bit of Hema Malini from Seeta Aur Geeta thrown in."

Katrina remained unavailable for comment.

When LOVE AAJ KAL was released Deepika Padukone was presented in a new light and following in the same leak Imtiaz Ali has given spunk to the character portrayed by Nargis Fakhri in ROCKSTAR. When was it that a female star in a film was shown putting people to shame who were urinating besides a wall, as it has been done in the song of ROCKSTAR. It may have been an out of box idea, but one only hopes that it would be highlighted in the times to come so that we are able to get rid of this menace.

Being a model from USA Nargis Fakhri has already made a name for herself by being featured on the cover page of Vogue magazine and being an international model having featured in the campaigns of brands such as Sony Viao, a Ford model etc., the confidence of having faced the camera comes out in abundance in the role that she is playing in ROCKSTAR.

She has been promoted in a rather innovative manner by the director Imtiaz Ali when both of them had gone on a promotional tour to Chandigarh. Impromptu, Imtiaz Ali took Nargis Fakhri on a rickshaw ride, he himself driving the rickshaw, and there could not be a better creation of an image of a yet to be launched film star. Pallavi Sharda new hottie, ready for bikini

"I always dreamt of becoming an actor and making a mark in Bollywood. When I was approached for the role of Sia, in the film, I just couldn't say no. Dia and Zayed helped me a lot and made me comfortable on the sets," says Pallavi.

But does she regret that her maiden venture Dus Tola didn't do well at the BO? "Every actor wants her debut film to be a hit. I too was expecting a lot from Dus Tola. I think the film was not marketed well and hence didn't make a great impact. But I stand by the fact that it was a good film, which had a great actor like Manoj Bajpayee. I don't regret having done the film," says Pallavi.

Pallavi has already worked in Walkaway, a cross-over film in which she played the lead. She has also dabbled in theatre and is a trained dancer. "I want to spread my wings and explore different industries. I am also game for south Indian films as I have a fair understanding of south Indian languages especially Tamil."

Now that donning a bikini has become a fad among the Bollywood actors, will Pallavi be game for it? "I would love to do character-driven roles. In case, if my script requires me to don a bikini, I would definitely do," signs off the actor.

Priyamani is back

The movie will see her play dual roles - that of a historical character and the other an out-an-out glamorous one. Says director T Venugopal, "The historical character that Priyamani plays in the film, will appear in flashback. That episode is going to be the highlight of the movie.

Jagapathi Babu has been paired opposite her in the flashback sequences." Apart from this film, Priyamani also has a movie opposite Shyam. The flick is almost complete and is ready to hit the screens this month end.

Vidya Balan gets down and 'dirty'

Vidya Balan seemed in the mood to give buxom basics a loaded retro spin when she kickstarted the publicity campaign of her upcoming release, The Dirty Picture, at the film's music launch on Friday.

Departing from the norm of inviting only the press at a film's music launch, producer Ekta Kapoor had decided to make Friday's event, held at a suburban mall in Mumbai, an open-to-all affair.

A 2000-odd crowd gathered in no time as the word spread that Vidya would take to stage with co-stars Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor.

Veteran Naseer threw in a surprise act before Vidya took to the stage. He did an impromptu dance - possibly his first ever in a live show - that had the crowds applauding.

The heat was on once Vidya took to the stage, dressed in a garish pink 80s-style Bollywood dance outfit that liberally defined her curves and had a plunging neckline. Pearl strings on her blouse, around the midriff, on her wrists and on her ankles completed the look.

She looked every bit a new-age version of Silk Smitha, the eighties sex siren she essays in the movie.

Vidya gyrated to Ooh la la , the song from the film which is fast turning into a rage. The focus of course was less on songs and more on Vidya's bust thrusts as the star of the evening let herself go to the beats of the sexy number that marks the comeback of veteran composer- singer Bappi Lahiri as a playback voice. It was the first time that Vidya, 33, performed live on stage.

"People have accepted the music and I hope they also like the film. I had never thought I would get to dance to Bappi Da 's tunes," Vidya said after her performance.

Although the actress did her sexy number in the sizzling pink outfit, she must have realised later that the attire was a bit too revealing for the rest of the event. A near wardrobe malfunction moment occurred when Vidya bent down to touch the film's director Milan Luthria's feet.

So, once her dance was over, Vidya quickly ran off to her vanity and returned to the stage in a red saree with white polka dots, very much in sync with the retro image she presents in the film.

Apart from Vidya, Emraan too managed to generate some noise among the audience.

If Ekta was hoping for a bombastic way to kick off the publicity blitz for The Dirty Picture, scheduled to release on December 2, Vidya gave her just that.

“For me, it doesn’t matter whether I am playing a glamorous role or not. It does matter that I am doing a film with Akshay Kumar and that too in a film by Priyadarshan. I think that it is one of the greatest compliments that I ever got from a director. The very confidence of the director in me as an actor made me feel special and at that point of time it didn’t matter whether the role would de-glamourising me or not. I want my audience to accept me in this avatar the same way they have accepted me in my glamourous avatar,” she says.

So, is it true that Priyadarshan offered her the same role that was once played by his wife? “Yes, I am playing the role that was once played by his wife (The film is a remake of the 1988 Malayalam film Vellanakalude Nadu, directed by Priyadarshan himself with Mohanlal and Shobana as the lead pair). He came and told me that,” she adds.

The film also marks the debut of south star Trisha who has managed to steal quite a bit of the limelight along with Akshay during the film’s promotions.

However, Urvashi will be concentrating on roles that are sure to pay her rich dividends like Chai Garam with Govinda. “I am doing a few good roles likeChai Garam. I will be surely seen in some great shots there and something that my fans would love to see,” she smiles.

But is it true that she has put a ban on swimwear and bikinis in her films? Urvashi refutes the theory vehemently. “I cannot be uncomfortable in a bikini at all. I have previously endorsed a sportswear brand and I had to wear swimwear there. I think I have a body which can confidently carry off a bikini,” Urvashi says.

Both, my dad and my mum. Also, I have a few friends I trust completely.

Filmmakers have to go through your dad before they come to you.
Not really. My dad is not going to play my role in any film. They come to me. I take a call. I do have strong views in this aspect. But after a certain point, my dad does get in. I don’t want to concentrate on the details that follow.

Do you check with him before doing a particular role?
Of course. What is the point of having him as my dad? I think that every child looks up to his parents.

You said you have strong views on selecting films. Do you have a list of don’ts like not wearing a bikini or not kissing?
No. I am talking about roles. But as for your question, well, I won’t do anything provocative. I won’t do anything for the heck of it to sell a film. If it’s taking the story forward, then it’s fine. It’s an ethical stand, I believe.

Did you and your sister Rhea argue on the sets of Aisha?
Rhea is very practical and pragmatic. I am very emotional and impulsive. So that makes a good head and heart combination. Such things work, don’t they?

Are you ready to work with Ranbir after your link up with him in Saawariya?
I have no rules for who my hero is. If my role is good, why not?

Why is it that you wear so many branded clothes? Industry people say so...
That’s not true. I do wear many vintage clothes too. If required, I will wear a simple sari. I pick up tees and jeans from streets as well.

Correct me if I am wrong but did you ever wish to be a beauty queen?
Yeah (laughs) I even wanted to be a detective. And then I wanted to be a teacher. At 16, I decided that I want to be a writer. And then, I ultimately felt that I wanted to be an actress.

Have you met Aishwarya Rai after last year’s fiasco during the Cannes festival?
Yes. I met her at a party and she was extremely gracious and kind. At the end of it, it was all a big misunderstanding

Shahid Kapoor has got linked up to Amrita Rao (Dil Vil Pyar Vyar), Vidya Balan (Kismet Connection), Priyanka Chopra (Kaminey) and Anushka Sharma (Badmaash Company). How have you avoided that (so far)?
(Laughs) I think that depends on who your producer and director is.

Are you dating anybody though? There was so much talk of you dating Punit Malhotra during I Hate Luv Storys?
I am very much single. But I wouldn’t like to elaborate.

Asin is presently in Sri Lanka shooting for her film, ‘Ready’, but the always spotlessly clean imaged Asin is unfairly caught into some controversies for shooting in Sri Lanka. The reason for all the controversies is the merciless killing of hundreds of Tamilians in Sri Lanka some months back.

Asin has a South Indian career origin and thus she is expected to abide by the rules of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. In fact, the stars who attended the IIFA awards have already been banned by the SIFCC. The stars are Hrithik, Salman, Vivek and Saif Ali Khan.

Help will feature the model-turned-actress' first bikini appearance for a film

As she has been a part of the modelling and ramp show world, getting into a two-piece for Help was no big deal for Mugdha Godse. The actress has done some bare-dare scenes for the horror thriller that has Bobby Deol as her co-star.

Incidentally, in her debut film Fashion, she featured in one scene walking the ramp in a two-piece, but there, her lower half was covered in a wrap-around.

"I wasn't conscious about wearing a bikini as it was a script requirement. But I had to work really hard to keep my body in shape." Ashley Rebello has done the styling for the film. She settled for a plain white bikini instead of the fluorescent, colourful ones."

She adds, "What was tough for me to portray the two looks I have in the film -- at certain times it was glamorous while other times it had to be ghastly." Directed by Rajeev Virani, Help is slated for an August 13 release.

A NO-HOLDS-BARRED commercial Bipasha Basu did way back in 1999 before she became a Bollywood star has suddenly surfaced on YouTube.com . In the ad film, for New York Lotto, Bipasha features in the buff. She plays an Oriental princess who is being bathed and readied by handmaidens for an amorous meeting with a prince played by Vivek Oberoi, who was also yet to become a star.

"It was shot as an international assignment meant for global markets. Bipasha shot for the ad film shortly after winning the Ford Supermodel Contest in 1996," the actress's spokesperson said. While he claimed that a body double was used for the shoot, several close-up scenes clearly show Bipasha in the buff.

"Since the ad campaign is over 10 years old, Bipasha had to think hard to put it in place. In fact, she couldn't even recall it instantly. She had shot for it in New York. I don't know why it has surfaced now," the spokesperson added.

Though not much information is available about the ad campaign, YouTube uploads state that it was directed by Ken Nahoum and the art direction was done by illustrator Tommy Kane. Also, it's mentioned that the ad film was shot in India.

The film was uploaded in 2009 and has had around 11,000 hits since then. It is also available on several other websites.

Bipasha, on her part, is yet to go on record about the ad film.

In the film, Vivek plays a New York cabbie. Stuck in a traffic jam, he starts fantasising that he is a prince, who sets out to meet his dream lover - the princess played by Bipasha. The ad film then goes on to show Bipasha's grooming for her rendezvous with the prince.

Coming back to Bipasha, the ad film has surfaced at a time when she doesn't have many top-notch films on hand. She has been trying to project the image of a serious actress of late. But her maiden arthouse performance, in Rituparno Ghosh's Bangla film Shob Charitra Kalponik, was panned by critics and viewers alike. She will next be seen in Lamhaa , directed by Parzania - maker Rahul Dholakia.

The only mainstream film she has right now is Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum' opposite Abhishek Bachchan. She is reportedly trying her best to drop her anglicised accent and diction to sound like the Kashmiri Muslim girl she plays in 'Lamhaa'. Sonali Kulkarni of Dil Chahta Hai fame, tied the knot with Fox TV Studios MD-Nachiket Pantvaidya in a quiet, low-key ceremony in Pune, surrounded by friends and family.

The event, a very private ceremony, was held in Sonali's pune house on Tuesday, May 25. Sonali and Nachiket, also a distant relative of Sonali's sister-in-law, were seeing each other for long.

This is the second marriage for both the National Award-winning actress (Best actress special mention for her role in Chaitra-Marathi), who was previously married to Marathi play director, Chandrakant Kulkarni and Nachiket. She had also acted in a Telugu film called Yellamma (1999), starring Nasser and Revathi in the lead.

While Sherlyn’s claim sounds suspicious, to say the least, a close friend of the actress reveals, “It all started when Bob, the chief official Playboy photographer, saw bikini clad images of Sherlyn on the Internet and contacted her for a shoot. But the deal fell apart as they were not offering her a cover.”

So, how was it working with the Jr Bachchan and his Mrs? “Aishwarya and I had no scenes, so I did not get the opportunity to even say hello to her but Abhishek Bachchan is fun and lively, he is always cracking jokes and when you work with him there’s lot of laughter on the sets and you hardly feel the work pressure. From the spot boy to the director, he is courteous to one and all. Even Suriya my co-star in Rakta Charitra is a joy to work with,” says Priya excitedly and adds, “I’m working with him for the first time. He is very helpful and a great encourager.”

From the way Priya rolls her Rs, must have been a tough task getting her Hindi right, methinks but she’s quick to rebut, “Mani sir took me to the assistant director to test my Hindi. He came back after five minutes and the assistant director certified that my Hindi was really good and with a little help here and there I would sail through.” “I studied Hindi in school and that’s come in handy,” says Priya who abandoned her masters in psychology midway to take up films.

With multilinguals being the order of the day in the Indian film industry (Rakta Chartira and Raavan are tri-linguals) Priya relishes the fact that she’s “conversant in all the southern languages”. “It took me just a couple of months to pick up Telugu. For my second film Pellainakothalo I had begun conversing so well in Telugu that people took me to be from this state,” says Priya who is busy shuttling between Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.So, while she’s in Mumbai does she catch up with her cousin Vidya? “I haven’t spoken to her in a long time, but I do meet her dad when I am there.”

Right now she’s in the city shooting for song sequences with Gopichand for Puri Jagannath’s Golimaar. “It’s a cute role, I’m essaying with a good mix of glamour and performance,” says Priya who makes it clear that though she’s won the national award for playing a simple village belle in Paruthiveeran, she’s looking forward to playing diverse roles. “I’m sure my forthcoming film will take people by surprise. If they exclaim — ‘is this the same Priyamani who played the de-glam Muthazhagu in Paruthiveeran?” I’d be the happiest person,” she says and goes on to point out, “Except for Priyanka Chopra who sported a glam look and won a National Award for Fashion, I don’t think there are such roles available down south.”

Though she’s happy with the way Bollywood is experimenting with various genres with the films like Manorama Six Feet Under and Road Movie and the realistic Tamil films that have caught people’s attention, she feels that Tollywood has to decisively break away from formula films.

Being a National Award winner does come with its share of expectations and headaches she says. “Soon after Paruthiveeran I was flooded with scripts that were almost the same as the award-winning film. I had offers from Malyalam, Telugu and Kannada filmmakers. But I had to be firm and in fact I realised that now I had to be more careful with my choice of films because I have raised the audience expectations,” says the actress whose Kannada film Raam a remake of Ready was a runaway success.

So, is she currently doing a film in her native tongue Malyalam? “No, I’m not doing a Malayalam film she confirms and adds, “I have got offers but I am waiting for a really good scrip,t” she says.Priyamani right now is in an enviable position, but she says that “it was a very difficult journey. I still don’t think I’ve reached the pinnacle.”

How does busy Priyamani juggle her schedules? What keeps her going? “I come back from work, then eat and sleep,” she says admitting that she never diets but does try to fit in gym sessions in her busy schedules. “When I’m in Hyderabad I love going to the multiplexes to watch movies or party with friends but that’s after I’ve grown to love this city,” she says and pauses as she reminisces — “When I first came here I thought “Aiyyo why in the world did I land here!”

Salaman wants romance with Deepika Padukone

She maintains that the USP of this Parmeet Sethi directed film is the freshness that it comes with.

"'Badmaash Company' is a really young and fresh film. It is not just a thriller or a crime film. It has a mix of everything though the genre remains as that of a cool caper. But at the core of it, it is about friendship of these four youngsters," said the actress.

After working with a senior actor like Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne... and Shahid in Badmaash Company, Anushka will be starring opposite Akshay Kumar in Patiala House.

A cornered Rahul Mahajan defended his newly-wed wife, Dimpy Ganguly over the bikini shoot pictures that hit the Internet last week, triggering a new conflict. The pictures were shot, when Dimpy was a part of Gladrags Mega Model Hunt 2009.

Rahul is also upset that the tabloid posted the bikini pics now, when they were going to start a happy married life. All the intimate scenes in Raajneeti are between Ranbir and his American girlfriend played by Sarah Thompson. In the Indian portion of Ranbir's story, there's no intimacy with Katrina.

In "Veer", the Mumbai girl was covered from head to toe throughout the film. But is she ready to play a chic urban girl and wear contemporary costumes in her future movies?

"I am more than willing to do so. What I am sure about though is that I would never be able to wear a bikini. That's because I am constantly thinking that I am fat, I am fat, I am fat. Till the time this voice reverberates inside my head, I will always be apprehensive," Zarine told IANS.

"I'm very conscious about my weight. In fact, during my school and college days, I used to weigh as much as 100 kilos. It's only now that I weigh a lot lesser. I want to play all kinds of roles and get into the kind of attire that a Hindi film heroine is required to wear.

"However, before that I will have to get rid of all the excess weight that I currently have on me. It's just a few more pounds to go and after that it should all be well," said Zarine.

Zarine, who plays princess Yashodhara in "Veer" that has Salman in the lead role, understands that if she wants to be in the business of showbiz, she will need a good figure.

"Whatever role that I consent to play, it has to be done with dedication. However, I'm a new entrant and there are so many established actresses who are taking the size zero route. Obviously, I can't beat them due to my body structure, but I wish to get into shape to the best of my ability," she said.

Narrating her journey of weighty issues, Zarine said: "It was only after I started doing modelling that my weight went down by 40-45 kilos from an original 100. I have a tendency to lose and put on weight. This is why while working on 'Veer', I was so happy. For a change no one was asking me to lose weight."

In "Veer" she was not required to look skinny; therefore she could even pile on chocolates.

"Why just chocolates? I also got to eat other junk stuff which I had to earlier sacrifice. Any actress would have thought 1,000 times before eating the kind of things that I got on a platter on the sets of 'Veer'. Having said that, I had to be reasonably conscious about not becoming 100 kilos again. I was regular with my workouts to maintain a curvaceous body."

Zarine is now biding her time before she gets ready for her next venture.

"I am taking things slow and waiting for what best comes to me next. Industry has been supportive so far though I'm looking forward to something concrete. I'm taking things slow; there is no hurry," she said.

Bollywood films, ad films, print commercials and even reality TV is on an overdrive in presenting beautiful girls in the itsy-bitsy two-piece.

Indeed, the bikini as a tool to draw viewer interest has never been so abundantly used in India.

It all started when Kareena Kapoor sported one in Tashan . Soon, Minissha Lamba followed her in Kidnap . Next came Amrita Arora in Kambakkht Ishq and Lara Dutta in Blue . Even the generally demure Rani Mukherji sported a bikini top in Dil Bole Hadippa . The latest buzz is that Deepika Padukone will be sporting a bikini in Sajid Khan's Housefull. Deepika will have competition from the film's other two heroines, of course - Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan will also be dressing down for maximum effect.

In fact, even before official promos of Housefull are out, the bikini buzz over its three heroines is already making waves. The situation is the same for Vivek Oberoi's upcoming Prince: It's Showtime . New girls Neeru Singh and Aruna Shields don bikinis in the film, and that seems to have elicited more audience interest than Vivek's solo comeback.

"The media likes to publicise girls in bikinis. So, producers want maximum mileage by having heroines don bikinis. It ensures free marketing," says director Sanjay Gadhvi, who, besides having Minissha wear a bikini in Kidnap , had Bipasha Basu don the attire in Dhoom 2 . In the same film, Aishwarya Rai- Bachchan also wore a bikini top along with a micro mini skirt in one of the songs.

The bikini effect can be seen in the television world too. After Payal Rohatgi took the lead on Bigg Boss 2 last year, Negar Khan and erstwhile telly bahu Shweta Tiwari joined the bikini brigade in Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao . Sherlyn Chopra teamed a bikini top with hot pants on Bigg Boss 3 recently.

" Bikinis have always been a hot proposition in Bollywood, ever since Sharmila Tagore in An Evening In Paris and Zeenat Aman in Qurbani immortalised the outfit. I don't see anything wrong in heroines sporting bikinis if the scene really needs it. All three girls in my films were cool about wearing bikinis," Sajid says about Deepika, Lara and Jiah, who wore the outfit for an expensive song shot on an Italian beach.

Meanwhile, the ad- world is warming up to bikini tricks too.

TV commercials ranging from products such as deodorants to men's underwear have gone all out in featuring girls wearing bikinis to make an impact. Ad guru Prahlad Kakkar says: "Advertisers kicked off the trend 20 years ago. Now it is common. Titillation can be the best form of publicity.

Also, moral policing is not very fierce when it comes to bikinis." Interestingly, most of the films with liberal bikini outings, including Tashan , Blue, Kidnap , Kambakkht Ishq and Dil Bole Hadippa failed at the box office.
